The cost effective mid-range and low-end segments of the smartphone market have always been the strength zone for Xiaomi. The Redmi and Redmi note series have served Xiaomi long. And expanding its horizon outside China has helped the company reach more cost-aware customers. Rumors have that Xiaomi shipped over 10 million Redmi 2A units in the past few months. Now, may be to celebrate the milestone, Xiaomi has cut down the price of the enhanced Redmi 2A version to just $78. That’s the same price as the regular version which usually retails for 499 Yuan ($78).
The Redmi 2A smartphone features a 4.7-inch 1280 x 720p display, a Leadcore L1860C 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 8 mega-pixel rear camera, 2 mega-pixel front facing camera and a 2200mAh battery.
