At last Mozilla has released its Firefox web browser for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Firefox is one of the most successful and commonly used web browser that actually costs nothing. The open source web browser gained much popularity because of its speed and easy to use interface. After the arrival of Google Chrome, Firefox lost its market share a bit but the browser’s been doing okay. Unfortunately, until yesterday, you couldn’t use Firefox in your iOS devices though the web browser has been available for Windows and Android platform for a long time.
But not any more! Mozilla has officially made Firefox available for download in the iOS app store. This is actually no surprise at all. Mozilla’s been planning on releasing Firefox on iOS platform for a while and offered a public preview on September this year.
Firefox for iOS features smart and flexible search, intuitive tab management, syncing with Firefox Accounts and Private Browsing. Users can also use Firefox Accounts to sync browsing history, tabs and passwords and bring bookmarks from other devices to Firefox for iOS.
Of course Firefox will have to compete with entrenched mobile browsers like Safari and Chrome who’ve been on the field for sometimes. But the final release will certainly be welcome news for desktop Firefox users hoping to take the same experience on the go with their favorite iOS devices.
You can download Mozilla Firefox for iOS from App Store.
